Surah Al Lahab / Al-Masad (Thorns)


In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
  1. Condemned are the hands of Abee Lahab, and he is condemned.
  2. His wealth did not avail him, nor did what he acquired.
  3. He will burn in a Flaming Fire.
  4. And his wife—the firewood carrier.
  5. Around her neck is a rope of thorns.

Tabbat yadaa abii lahabiu-watabb(a)تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ1
Maa aghna 'anhu maaluhu wamaa kasab(a)مَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ2
Sayashla naaran dzaata lahabiu(n)سَيَصْلَى نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ3
Waamra-atuhu hammaalatal hathab(i)وَامْرَأَتُهُ حَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِ4
Fii jiidihaa hablum(n) mim(n) masad(in)فِي جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِنْ مَسَدٍ5
Surah Al Lahab / al-Masad (Thorns) is the 111th chapter (Sura) of the Quran with 5 verses.
